Principal's Message
This year, over 230 of our second through fifth grade students scored 350 or proficient, many scored over 350 or advanced in English Language Arts or Math, or both on the 2009 Spring CST.  We are so proud of how hard these students worked to show how much they learned.  We will have an awards assembly to acknowledge all the members of Club 350 the second week in October.  Parents will receive an invitation to the awards assembly.  Our goal for CST 2010 is 250 more second through fifth graders to join Club 350 in English Language Arts and 220 more in Math.  You will find the names of the Club 350 included in this month's newsletter.

This year, each classroom will select a favorite piece of Children's literature, book or story.  Then each student can choose a character from the selected literature to be the theme of his/her costume.  For example, a class may select the book "The Paper Bag Princess" by Robert Munsch.  Students may want to dress up as Elizabeth the princess, Ronald the prince, or the fire breathing dragon.  Your child's teacher will let you know which book the class has chosen.  You may purchase costumes or be creative and use old clothing or items found around the house.  Students may wear their literature inspire costume to school on Friday, October 29, 2010, we will select the best costume per grade level.  Students may also wear their costume at the carnival on Saturday, October 30, 2010.  ONLY literature inspired costumes will be permitted on Friday.
